“Sew Blessed”

Patti Gobeli

Denton First Seventh-day Adventist Church member, Wanda Thomas, loves to sew. Wanda’s mother sewed clothes for her 11 children and taught her oldest daughter (Wanda) to sew at a young age. Wanda still has her mother’s sewing machine, but uses her own to sew lap blankets for Denton area nursing home residents.

A recent health issue required Wanda to have kidney surgery, but she was back in church quickly with her family by her side. Melissa Green, Wanda’s daughter said, “She is not one who likes to miss church.” Wanda rarely misses Wednesday night prayer meeting and often has a personal praise to share. She takes the time to send out encouragement cards to those who have requested prayer, missed church due to illness, or a sympathy card to those who have lost loved ones. At 73 years young, Wanda continues to serve God through her ministry of sharing God’s love with her time, her talents, and her positive outlook.
