Honor Society–Not Just for High School

North Dallas Adventist Academy (NDAA) provides its top students plenty of opportunities to pursue academic excellence.
That includes membership in the National Honor Society, a 97-year old organization dedicated to recognizing students based on the criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. While the organization is a staple in high schools across the country, NDAA believes those principles should be established at the middle school level as well and offers our seventh and eighth graders a similar experience and opportunity to serve.
Our Middle School Honor Society serves as the student association for the middle school. They work with NDAA Chaplain Rob Parrish to plan campus ministry activities, as well as, Middle School Principal Becky Clark to plan social activities. In March, the group led fifth and sixth grade students in special bonding activities to prepare for Outdoor School.
Other past activities planned by the Middle School Honor Society include vespers programs, a capture-the-flag tournament and a field day for middle school. The students also complete additional community service hours and maintain a prayer request box, where students can place prayer requests that the honor society students then cover in prayer.
In order to qualify, seventh and eighth grade students must have achieved an overall average of 90 in their classes to be invited to apply. The application gives those students the opportunity to share their accomplishments in the areas of Leadership, Character and Service. Members are then selected by a committee of anonymous Faculty and Staff.
