Tamara Michalenko Terry

Texas Conference Executive Committee convened July 10, 2019, to vote a new Vice President for Education, Kisha Norris.

A Texas-native, Norris was born in San Antonio and completed her high school years at Valley Grande Academy in Weslaco, Texas. She then graduated from Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas, with her bachelor’s degree in biology and later her Master of Education with an emphasis in leadership/administration. She is currently working on her doctorate in education from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with expected completion in June 2020.

Her teaching career began at Burton Adventist Academy in Arlington, Texas, where she taught Spanish, Ecology and Chemistry. She then focused her attention on Advancement and Development for Southwestern Adventist University, Loma Linda University School of Allied Health in Loma Linda, California, and Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama. Most recently, she was an adjunct professor for Southwestern Adventist University Department of Education and Senior Director of Development.

“Her development experience will be an asset to our schools,” Carlos J. Craig, Texas Conference president said. “As many Adventist schools are challenged with funding, Ms. Norris’ experience with development will provide new ideas for school financial growth.”

Norris will begin her responsibilities at the Texas Conference on August 1, 2019.
