Denton First Church Moves to New Location

After 75 years in the City of Denton, the Denton First Seventh-day Adventist Church (DFSDA) relocates to Pilot Point, Texas.
DFSDA spent a little over two years leasing and sharing a church building in Denton after outgrowing their own. The new location is north of Denton and was on the market when the building committee began looking for property almost four years ago. The committee was aware of the church in Pilot Point at that time, but the asking price was well above budget. Four years later, that church was still for sale and the price had been reduced to within budget.
After much prayer and many challenges, Denton First held their first worship service at the new location on October 6, 2018. Pastor Derek Lazarus, along with the Denton First congregation, experienced God’s leading in a miraculous way in securing the building and sending the contractors needed to have the building made ready for worship.
DFSDA feels blessed and once again reminded of God’s perfect timing for His people and His work. The official opening and dedication service was commemorated on October 27, 2018, with Texas Conference President Carlos Craig delivering the message. Richard White, Texas Conference Executive Secretary, and Roger Mekelburg, Texas Conference Association Secretary/Treasurer, were in attendance.
To celebrate the vast cultural diversity of Denton First, an international flag procession was held at the beginning of the service and an international potluck followed. Attendees were then treated to an international gospel concert to close the Sabbath festivities. Since relocating, three new families from the community have begun attending and are becoming part of the DFSDA Family.
