Engage Conference 2017 | RESET
Deborah Gendke
The Bible says that where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there with them. June 16-17, 2017, the Lord was with more than 850 young people in Keene, Texas, where the Texas Conference Youth Department held the second annual Engage Conference. They came from all over Texas and some traveling as far as from Little York, Arkansas.
Engage Conference is geared for youth and young adults to come together to worship, connect with God, and fellowship with each other. This year’s theme was RESET. Throughout the weekend, we were challenged to reset our addictions, reset our bad habits, reset relationships, reset our spiritual life. God spoke to us through our main speakers for the weekend Jeremy Anderson and Willy Ramos. They gave us a challenge to live for God each and every day and to prepare our lives for His second coming. With powerful callings, the youth step out of the pews and moved forward as they gave their lives to Jesus. Resetting their lives completely and trusting God to help them, we had 42 people accept the call to baptisms with 18 of them getting baptized Saturday night.
The outreach activity on Sabbath afternoon was a great way for everyone to fellowship with each other and work as a team. Southwestern Adventist University was so helpful, and many youth and young adults were motivated to attend the University. The music from the weekend was uplifting from the praise and worship to the various special music.
The Saturday night activities consisted of church teams that competed in volleyball, dodge ball, and bubble soccer tournaments until late hours of the night.
We want to say thank you to everybody that came out and encourage you to get ready for next year’s Engage Conference!
