Texas Conference Executive Committee met August 26, 2021, and voted Jacob Kendrick as a two-year business intern for the treasury department.
Kendrick, a 2021 cum laude graduate from Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU), received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting.
During his last two years, he was the financial vice president for the SWAU student association. According to Kendrick, that included creating a budget, tracking and approving expenses, preparing and presenting financial statements, and working with the team to manage all financial activities.
The previous summer, he completed a finance internship with AdventistHealth Bakersfield where he said he prepared ad-hoc reports and daily operating metrics based on analytics and financial statements, and participated in month-end close meetings.
This summer, Kendrick was a summer audit intern for the Texas Conference completing church audits with the auditing team.
“We are glad Kendrick was able to continue working for the Texas Conference,” Randall B. Terry, Texas Conference treasurer, shared. “Business internships provide a wonderful way for us to hire recent graduates and give them an opportunity to experience what it is like working for the church in their chosen line of work.”
The North American Division business internship offers recent graduates a paid opportunity with the conference receiving financial assistance from the local union and division to help with salary and benefit expenses.
