Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Executive Committee voted Hector and Anabel Perez as Lake Whitney Ranch director and manager, respectively, during its July 25, 2019 meeting. Hector Perez currently serves as camp manager for Lone Star Ranch in Athens, Texas. A position he has held since 2014.
Prior to his work at Lone Star Ranch, Perez was camp manager for Camp Berkshire in Wingdale, New York, from 2008 to 2013. It was like coming home for him as he started his camp experience at Camp Berkshire in 2001 as a maintenance worker, assisting in a variety of areas. Three years later, he accepted the associate director position at Pine Springs Ranch in Mountain Center, California. He worked there for two years then changed careers until the opportunity to work at Camp Berkshire called him back to camp ministry.
Anabel Perez worked at Pine Springs Ranch as well starting in 2004, helping in various areas. Originally trained as a nurse in Puerto Rico, she has assisted her husband in almost all areas of the camp helping things to run smoothly.
“We are fortunate to have such an experienced team coming to lead Lake Whitney Ranch,” Carlos J. Craig, Texas Conference president, states. “We look forward to the facilities being utilized even more as we raise funds to continue the master plans for the ranch.”
Hector Perez is a North American Division camp committee member for the Association of Adventist Camp Professionals (AACP). He currently serves as an AACP officer, vice president for conventions, for the 2019-2021 term. The Perez’s will begin their positions with the Texas Conference on September 1, 2019.
