Elton DeMoraes Elected Texas Conference President

After much prayerful consideration and discussions, the Texas Conference Executive Committee voted to elect Elton DeMoraes as president of the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in Alvarado, Texas. DeMoraes spent many years working in the Texas Conference before accepting the position of vice president for ministries for the Southwestern Union Conference in Burleson, Texas.
Considered by many as a homecoming, DeMoraes started his ministry in the Texas Conference as an associate pastor for the Houston Central Spanish Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1998. Seven years later, he became pastor of the Tyler Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tyler, Texas.
He transitioned to the Houston Northwest Seventh-day Adventist Church in 2009 for just a year before being elected English evangelism director for the Texas Conference. That position was merged with church planting, so eventually, in 2011, DeMoraes became ministerial, church planting and English evangelism director for the Texas Conference.
As the conference grew, he transitioned to focus on the ministerial portion. Four years later, he was elected Texas Conference executive secretary, a position he held for four years before his election to the Southwestern Union Conference.
“We are happy to have Elder DeMoraes back in Texas territory,” David Montoya, Texas Conference executive secretary, shared. “His passionate desire to proclaim the gospel wherever he goes will only enhance the work here in the Texas Conference.”

It is my prayer that our Lord through the Holy Spirit will give you special vision and inspiration for the task to pave the way for the Lords soon coming to Texas and the whole world. At the conference level is where leadership, laity, and the mission fields at our hand have their greatest potential for direct impact. May the unquenchable fires of the Gospel be kindled here in Texas as we work together here in Texas.
