Students Find Their Voice Through Drama
Evan Hadrick
The North Dallas Adventist Academy (NDAA) Drama Program held three performances in December of the play Death and Taxes by Pat Cook.
The play was an interactive mystery that allowed the audience to participate in solving the crime. Each showing had 50 seats and all performances were well attended. The Drama department is headed by Stephan Gray, who when asked about the impact drama could have on the school, quoted the author Shannon L. Adler, “If you were born with the ability to change someone’s perspective or emotions, never waste that gift. It is one of the most powerful gifts God can give the ability to influence. Drama can provide students with opportunities to find their voices.”
NDAA’s Drama Program made a call for supporters of the program to pledge towards the purchase of audience risers to help with visibility and ambience of the theater space. The cost for the project ranges from $7000-$8000, and over the weekend of performances the program received $4000 in pledges. NDAA is excited to the direction of its drama program, which returns to the stage later this spring for their second production of the year. Be sure to come support these talented students!
