Gendkes Voted to Lead Texas Adventist Community Service

Texas Conference Executive Committee met August 26, 2021, and voted Bo and Deborah Gendke as the new Texas Conference Adventist Community Services (Texas ACS) Director and Associate Director effective September 1, 2021. Both Southwestern Adventist University alumni, Texans hold a special place in their hearts, especially those in need.
The Gendkes, who have been active in various areas of club ministries for more than a decade, have a passion for community service and multigenerational involvement. “We look forward to getting more young people involved in community service in their area,” Bo shared. “We want to build on the community connection Texas ACS leaders, Julie and Marshall Gonzales, enhanced for our churches.”
“We look forward to the Gendkes continuing the passion for helping others in our Texas communities,” Elton DeMoraes, Texas Conference president shared. “Thank you to Marshall and Julie Gonzales for embracing their roles which started just weeks after Hurricane Harvey hit. They had the ultimate on-the-job training.”
Going back to her love of teaching, Julie has already started as the pre-k and kindergarten teacher for Cypress Bend Elementary School in Jefferson, Texas. Marshall will continue through the end of October helping to make a smooth transition for the Gendkes as Hurricane season is upon us.
“We are glad to see the community connection continue,” Marshall Gonzales shared. “As compassionate disaster relief continues long after the storm has passed.”
Marshall is most proud of the continued donations and volunteers who helped the little town of Refugio as they are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey.
Bo is currently the Design & Print Services Director and Building Maintenance Manager for the Texas Conference. Deborah is an administrative assistant for the Texas Conference young adults department and summer camp coordinator for Lake Whitney Ranch.
